ויקטוריה רואיז דה קורטזר אביה

Artist Bio

I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Prol, Spain, where I still live today. I loved painting from childhood, and I did it well. As a daughter of a painter, my childhood took place between painting, art books and exhibitions, but only after I got divorced I really started to paint seriously.
Starting from drawing portraits from family albums, portraits full of nostalgia, I then continued to paint my son’s happy games, our daily lives, while capturing those moments in my memory. Trying to reach every tree, every branch, every flower, trying to capture their colors, their lives … It has not always been easy. As a single parent, I had to combine painting with other works, which left me no time, or desire to paint. There were moments when I had to bury the dreams, but there was always room for hope, and in time I returned to them.
As I progress, I withdraw more into my inner world. I start from a reality, then filter it by the eyes of the heart, I express my feelings, my dreams and my hopes; I want to try my best, in the face of a reality that is not always pleasant; Shortcomings, sorrows, disappointments, even our negative emotions; there is a world full of beauty, our world within. Our secret garden.
