Jost’s enchantingly innocent portrayal of nature, animals and nubile youth – no doubt influenced by childhood memories and the lovely lake and woods that embrace her home – afford us a heartwarming, insightful view of life’s simple pleasures. A primitive, Early-American ambience pervades Genevieve’s works, with an emphasis upon the interaction between shepherds and well-fed flocks, children and brightly-plumed birds, adolescents and remarkably-domesticated jungle animals. In contrast to today’s technologies that overwhelm humanity and society, Jost’s artworks offer us an intimate view of “Paradise Lost,” and an appreciation of “roads less traveled”!
