As a child, Ana Maria was fascinated by the daily life of her birth village, Porto Feliz. Her mother would send her out to the field to pick a plump pumpkin or ripe ear of corn for the day’s lunch, while the neighboring farmers feverishly delivered their produce to nearby markets. Today, her meticulously painted artworks – with their vibrant colors and pristine details — reflect the village’s plush palms and fertile fields; harmonious community celebrations; and romantic rendezvous by the light of the silvery moon.
