Zlatko Kolarek

 

ZLATKO KOLAREK was born on March 30th 1959 in Zagreb – Croatia, but he lives and creates in Hlebine. He is a member of several painters associations (Art section "Podravka 72", The Association of Hlebine Painters and Sculptors of the Naïve and Croatian Society of Naïve Artists in Zagreb). He began painting with oil on glass in 1972, strongly influenced by Naïve artists Ivan and Josip Generalić. He mainly creates paintings with oil on glass and canvas, but is also very happy to use other substrates to create works of art. He paints with watercolors, pencil drawings and a colored graphics in his studio in Hlebine whenever there is a free time. Hundreds of pictures can be seen everyday in Zlatko’s gallery in his house. So far, he has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad (more than 300 exhibitions), and 26 solo exhibitions. He also likes taking part in art colonies where he exchanges experiences with other painters and sculptors.
