Charlotte Lachapelle

Charlotte Lachapelle was born in France in 1955.  When she was ten, Charlotte’s father bought her a large box of colors and encouraged her to draw and paint, which she proceeded to do. In the mid – 1970s, Charlotte moved to Paris and, enchanted by “the City of Lights”, began to paint. Her love of color is reflected in the harmony of heartwarming hues, capturing in compositional balance the seduction of France’s shifting seasons. She charmingly portrays the iconic buildings, boulevards, bridges and barges of Paris, the facades of famed butchers, bakers and candymakers, and the fields, farms and fairs of her birth village. Lachapelle’s artistry results in a magical world replete with nostalgia and poetry, and with urban scenes of serene silence and purity contrasted with festive fairs and minstrel acts delighting children and adults alike.
