Circle of Life

November 7, 2019, 18:00 - January 3, 2020, 18:00

From the Press release:

“The Circle of Life”: The new exhibition opening at GINA Gallery about a week after the conclusion of the Tishrei holidays will showcase works by a variety of the gallery’s artists.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the different stages of life—birth, childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age. These phases, both of humans and animals, are uniquely interpreted by naïve artists and expressed in vibrant colors and a celebration of the human story. This celebration is manifested in diverse ways, reflecting cultural, historical, ritualistic, and traditional differences, as well as the distinct styles of the artists, shaped by their personalities and life stories.

Choosing naivety in our cynical and alienated world is far from self-evident. Seeing life from a positive, forgiving, and compassionate perspective often means choosing to focus on its constructive, joyful, and loving aspects. It also means embracing adulthood and old age as natural, as blessings and opportunities for deeper reflection on existence.

The upper floor of the gallery will be dedicated primarily to childhood, while on the lower floor, viewers will progress through the stages of adulthood—falling in love, marriage, bringing children (or offspring) into the world, and, ultimately, serene and fulfilling old age.

GINA Gallery, located in Tel Aviv’s Old North, is the only gallery in the world specializing in international naïve art. It features works by over 200 artists from 37 different countries.
