From the Press the Release:
GINA Gallery of International Naïve Art is glad to celebrate its fifth birthday with the opening event of the exhibition “Celebrating Human Narrative”.
In the exhibition will take part artists that turned into dear friends of the gallery and whose works formed the identity of GINA Gallery. Artists like Ivonaldo Veloso de Melo (Brazil), Michael Falk (Israel), Veronica Labat (Argentina) and Francesco Maiolo (Italy). Next to them GINA Gallery is happy to exhibit for the first time naïve art from Scandinavian countries including Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
In the works by Katja Mesikammen (Finland) and Aimo Katajainen (Finland) we can sense the humor and distinguish the happiness in every day life, depicted in the crowded square in Mesikammen’s “Enjoying Life” and in the portraits by Katajainen where the severe looks of “Grandpa” and Grandma” result in a giggle and smile.
…The colorfulness and the happiness in the Nordic works engage itself easily with the passionate South American style. Even though Scandinavian countries are governed by freezing weather, naïve art melts the ice and the snow with human warmth and the happiness of a new day.
…Back to Europe, specifically to the paintings of the Italian naïves: Cesare Marchesini, Francesco Maiolo, Alessandra Puppo, Guido Vedovato and Giovanni Galli. The Italian artists, characterize their landscapes with the simplicity and uniqueness of the Italian scenery: the Chianti Vineyards and bays in La Spezia, freshen our eyes and splash them with summer greens and the yellows of the fall.
